Organic / Synthetic Chemistry
Professor Schmalz is a professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Cologne, Germany. His research group is interested in the synthesis of complex and – in most cases – bioactive organic compounds. These are often natural products, derived analogues or organometallic compounds. In addition, research topics such as asymmetric metal catalysis, macromolecular chemistry and the development of convenient and creative synthetic methodologies are also undertaken.
