University of Malawi (UNIMA)
Founded in 1964, the University of Malawi consists of five constituent colleges. Its mission is to advance
knowledge, promote wisdom and understanding, and to provide services by engaging in teaching and
research. All of which is facilitated through the dissemination, promotion, and preservation of learning
that in turn responds to the needs of Malawi and the world.
SABINA is managed by the Chemistry Department at the University's Chancellor College. The
University also contributes to SABINA and POL-SABINA by registering PhD and MSc
students, organising workshops in Malawi, and providing related training courses. It is also
responsible for the appointment and activities of the international Advisory Committee, and
for providing linkages to policy makers in Malawi.
