University of Pretoria (UP)
UP is the leading research university in South Africa and one of the largest in the country. In 1996, it
became the University with the highest research output in South Africa and has since maintained that
status. UP is at the forefront of tertiary education in the country and collaborates with world-class
partners to ensure continued learning and teaching excellence.
The University manages POL-SABINA through the African Centre for Gene Technologies (ACGT). It also provides active support role in implementing the project, and is jointly responsible, with the CSIR and Wits, for the development of the Virtual Research Environment (VRE). UP also has registered SABINA PhD and MSc students.
